Letter from the editor

Hi everyone! I’m always glad when you read The Mississippi Episcopalian, but this month is especially close to my heart as the bulk of this issue is devoted to celebrating 100 Happenings in our diocese. If you’re unfamiliar with Happening, just flip on over to page 11 and learn a bit about it.

I attended many Happening retreats in my teens and twenties and the impact the Happening movement made on my life persists to this day.

I’d like to thank Jo G. Prichard, Cecil Fox (both longtime Happening coordinators during the first 20 years) and diocesan archivist Julia Marks Young for their tremendous help compiling all the information about the 46 years that the Diocese of Mississippi has been involved in the Happening movement.

Even with all that help, I’ve only been able to pull together a partial list of all the 100 retreats we’ve held to date. You’ll find that incomplete list as well as a link you can use to help us finish it out for posterity. If you attended or sent a kid to Happening, or were involved in one in any other way and remember any of the info we’re missing, I hope you’ll use the link there to help us fill out the list.

As always, thanks for reading!
